In addition to the officer and committee reports which inform our membership on the progress of the Association, there is another great reason to attend these meetings: monthly presentations by city, corporate and non-profit organizations which give us opportunities to improve our way of living.
What you’ve missed if you haven’t been to a General Meeting lately? Well Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging showed us ways for our seniors to get the special services they need for free or cheap, Philadelphia Water Department explained their efforts to address the recent flooding issues in our neighborhood, and last month PhillyCarShare outlined how car sharing in Philadelphia is meeting the needs of those who only use cars for special occasions, at the best prices in town, while helping to alleviate parking congestion!
Coming up in February we’ll learn from the Philadelphia Partnership for Plastic Recycling about what we can do as a civic association to greatly reduce trash and perhaps make some money for our association operating expenses, to boot! In the future we’ll welcome Philadelphia Victims/Witness Advocates and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Delaware Valley to the monthly membership meeting.
So brave those hardly harsh mid-winter temperatures and come out to St. Agnes every first Monday at 7:00 p.m. to meet your friends and neighbors while you learn something new each month. Oh, and while you’re there don’t forget to sign up for one of our great and active committees!
