The Board of Directors of EPX are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for you to help transform the intersection of Passyunk, 12th, and Morris into a safer and more pedestrian-friendly space along bustling East Passyunk Avenue.

Planning Collective, LLC, a local planning and consulting firm, is hoping to secure $50,000 through the Pepsi Refresh Project to fund a community-driven design process and complete installation of a one-of-a-kind gathering space. But they need your ideas and your votes to make it happen!

Representatives from Planning Collective, LLC, will be on hand at Flavors of the Avenue this Saturday to share their ideas for how to ‘reclaim concrete’ at this busy crossroads and hope that you’ll stop by to share your ideas for ways to design and fill the space.

So, please take the time to stop by, introduce yourselves, and speak with them about this unique project, and learn how you can vote during the month of May to ensure we, the stakeholders: the neighbors, businesses and city agencies secure the necessary funding.

Please join the EPX Clean + Green Committee on Saturday, April 24th in planting dozens of street trees in our neighborhood.

We will meet at 8:30 am at the South Phila High School parking lot (on South Broad Street) where we will organize into teams and then disperse to tree planting locations.  The planting should take approximately 3-4 hours.

We will provide a light breakfast and all the tools required (including tree specialists) to get these trees in the ground.

As we still need another 20 volunteers, please join us for EPX’s first community tree planting event. After the planting join your neighbors at Flavors of the Avenue for discounted price w/ a “Tree Planter Volunteer Card” (limited number available!) and/or walk over and have a few drinks and some great Tex-Mex food specials at Adobe Cafe 1919 E. Passyunk Ave!

This planting will be organized in coordination with four other adjacent civic associations, who are combining resources to plant over one hundred trees throughout South Philly.

EPX is happy to be participating in the East Passyunk Ave Business Improvement District’s 2010 Flavors of the Avenue!

Come meet the Board and other members of your civic association and get great info about Clean and Greening efforts that EPX does withe EPA BID.

In addition to getting your questions answered regarding tree planting, street clean-up, zoning issues and town watch opportunities, the food is SPECTACULAR!
Many of the Avenue’s award winning restaurants and eateries will be on display and you can’t beat the price!
So please come out and support the merchants who do so much to keep the character of our neighborhood vibrant and our association afloat!
