Visit the new pocket park at the Gateway to East Passyunk Avenue at Passyunk, McKean and Broad, to see the latest Mural Arts project “River to River!” EPX, along with several governmental agencies, and the EPA BID severed as sponsors and donors for this beautiful tile and glass mural that adorns the low-wall at the north end of the new gateway pocket park.  Artists Mike Smash, Jonny Buss and Colleen Kane took inspiration from Native American chevron patterns in the pavement of the gateway’s street-scape. EPX was largely responsible for the suggestion of the color scheme and the securing of TruMark Credit Union’s commitment to having the mural on their property. Arts alive and thriving in EPX!

Flavors of the Avenue

EPX can end the year boasting that we have three of the finest restaurants in the city, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer!  Fond, Izumi and Lucky 13 were each in the top 25 of the paper’s top 50 list as rated my Inky food critic Craig Le Ban.  So if you can get New Year’s Eve reservations for any of these places…enjoy. Remembering that grand restaurants help to make a grand city…but  great restaurants reflex the greatest neighborhoods!  Excelsior, EPX!

The Board of Directors of EPX invites you to attend the 17th Annual Alfonso Cavaliere Memorial Fund Concert, held on Sunday October 25, 2009 @ 4:00 pm in the auditorium of SS. John Neumann-Maria Goretti High School. The concert Features the Bel Canto Lyric Opera Company and Orchestra. Tickets are available at the EPX General Membership meetings on September 14th & October 5th. General Admission tickets are $15.00 and Senior Citizen tickets are $12.00. The concert benefits musician scholarships for local artists at the undergrad and graduate levels. EPX receives a small return on every ticket we sell. So come discover this little hidden gem of South Philadelphia and listen to a lovely afternoon serenade of Opera, Broadway and Neapolitan songs while supporting two very worthy causes.
