EPX is pleased to announce that Andrew Lukov has been appointed as the new principal of Southwark Elementary School. Mr. Lukov is entering his 15th year of service with the Philadelphia School District. For five years he was Assistant Principal at Northeast High School, where he helped to develop a well respected, strong English Language Learner program. After that he worked with the Career and Technical Education team and coordinated a city-wide admissions Visual Communications program that competes with other top high schools in the city. He also served as an ESL teacher at Jackson Elementary and South Philly High School, and currently teaches a graduate education course in ESL methodologies at Chestnut Hill College.

Beth Dougherty, Chair of the EPX Education Committee, was privileged to represent the Committee and the entire EPX community as part of the principal selection process, and we welcome Mr. Lukov to Southwark. One of Mr. Lukov’s first goals for the new school year is to create a team of volunteers – Team Dragon (the Southwark mascot) – to assist at Southwark during the first week of school. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Beth at education@epcrossing.org.
