EPX helps neighbors recycle used Christmas trees

EPX and a few other South Philly civics are joining forces to sponsor a neighborhood Christmas Tree-recycling event on Saturday, January 5th. You can bring your tree (stripped of its lovely decorations & ornaments) to Columbus Square Park (13th & Reed) from 10am – 4pm where it will be turned into wood chips that will be used in public parks & gardens. The cost is only $5 and this earth-friendly act will surely get you onto Santa’s Nice list for 2013!

While the City will pick up trees that are left on the curb on your regular trash night, these trees will not be recycled and will be instead sent to the landfill with other garbage. If you are unable to attend our local Tree recycling event at Columbus Square Park, you may also bring your tree for recycling to the Streets Department’s Citizen Drop-Off Center at 3033 S. 63rd Street from January 7-12 from 8 am – 6 pm, Monday through Saturday. For more info, visit www.phila.gov/streets/ChristmasTrees.html or call 3-1-1.
