Trash Pickup Update!

From the Philadelphia Streets Department:

WEATHER UPDATE – February 17, 2014
Due to the pending snow storm expected to begin early Tuesday, February 18, Sanitation trucks will be diverted to snow operations. Tuesday trash and recycling collections will be suspended. Residents whose collection day is Tuesday must hold their collections until next week. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank citizens in advance for their patience. The forecast snow accumulations will require Sanitation trucks to fitted with plows to assist with snow.

Monday collections that were not collected will be picked up on Wednesday, February 19. Crews had difficulty maneuvering over snow mounds and had to prepare Sanitation trucks to be outfitted with plows for Tuesday’s storm.

Effective for the week of February 17th:

Monday collections that were not collected will be picked up on Wednesday, February 19.
Tuesday trash and recycling collections will be suspended. Residents whose collection day is Tuesday must hold their collections until next week.
Rear driveway collections are suspended.
Crews will NOT operate on a holiday schedule. Sanitation crews will be collecting items on Monday, Feb. 17th. Residents whose regular trash day is Monday should set these items out for collection on Monday at curbside.
Materials should be placed on top of snow mounds and visible for crews to see.
Sanitations crews will strive to maintain the regular collections schedule (with all materials placed curbside). We ask residents for their patience as crews navigate through snow and ice.
