Alert: Utility Impersonators

INFORMATION BULLETIN FROM 3RD DISTRICT POLICE

On 06/18/14 the Complainant reported that at 4:05pm she heard a knock on the door (on the 1900 block of South 10th Street) and when she answered the door there was a male wearing a white hard hat stating there was a gas main leak and he needed to check her house. The male was able to convince her to go to the basement with him to turn on the faucets. While in the basement she heard footsteps upstairs. #1 offender attempted to keep her downstairs by standing in front of the steps, but she pushed passed him and went up to the 1st floor where she observed a second male in her living room. When the Complainant asked the second male what he was doing in her house the 1st male stated that he was his boss. The 1st male spoke Spanish to the 2nd male, complainant believes that the male stated “I believe she understands”. She picked up the phone and the males fled the location.
