Holiday Giving!

Giving Thanks! Each year, at this time, the Board of EPX through the generosity of our membership and area businesses, works to complete our annual charitable giving campaign!  EPX is a 501(c)(3) and as such is expected to donate 5% of it’s income to charity. However, if you are a member, be proud knowing EPX donates almost 10% of it’s annual budget to charity! Much of our fund-raising goes to support this campaign.

EPX donations started with a $200.00 gift to St. John’s Baptist Church at 13th & Tasker Streets for their food pantry. The Philadelphia Access Center (PAC) at 11th & Mifflin Streets supplies turkeys to over a dozen neighbors in our area and EPX provides the rest of their Thanksgiving dinner.  Everything from salad to cranberry sauce, stuffing to green beans, mashed potatoes to gravy…and more.  The hard work of gathering donations, shopping and delivering these items falls to our Treasurer Millie Ruffino, our Recording Secretary Jo Cardillo and Member at-Large Pat Pitt.  Let’s give these ladies a great big round of applause!!!

The remainder of the Winter Holidays sees EPX donating to as many as six households, in our boundaries, a full array of Season’s Greetings; toys, home-goods, clothing and food. These items, in the form of gift cards, are given to needy families helping to make their holidays brighter! It’s not to late to join in on the giving. If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to aid EPX in our charitable efforts feel free to bring new, unused goods or monetary donations to our December General Membership meeting on Monday 12/7 or use the Paypal link on this web page.

So whether you celebrate, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, or something else, your friends and neighbors at EPX  wish you all the blessings of the Season and the hope for a peaceful and prosperous 2010, excelsior!
