The market is open every Wednesday, from 3 – 7 pm, around the fountain at 11th & Tasker.
The Fountain Farmers’ Market is open for its 6th season, more exciting
and diverse than ever! This year we’re welcoming back two farms — Fruitwood Orchards with berries, fruit and garden vegetables grown in New Jersey, and Berry Patch Produce with berries and a wide variety of vegetables grown in Chester County. Both farms practice Integrated Pest Management, a comprehensive strategy for managing pests that combines everything from low-tech, practical tools to occasional use of chemicals if crops are under severe threat.
We’re also welcoming Wild Indigo Farm, to its first year at the market! Deirdre is starting to farm her own field and greenhouse area, as part of a collaborative with a couple other farmers. She’ll have a variety of greens and other vegetables, grown chemical-free in Fleetwood, PA — as well as honey from suburban and urban hives (here on Philly rooftops!) harvested by her husband!
Plus, local business Green Aisle Grocery will bring a variety of locally-made treats from bakeries, restaurants, and artisanal food preservers, plus meats from pastured animals! A new bakery, Sweet Spice & Honey, will bring breads enriched with fruits or vegetables, a variety of grains, and lots of care for everyone’s health.
Berry Patch Produce: lots of strawberries, rhubarb, lettuce and spinach, cooking greens (chard, collards, kale), scallions; eggs, baked goods.
Fruitwood Orchards: asparagus, sugar snap peas, strawberries! plus, honey and maybe a few zucchini.
Wild Indigo Farm: spring vegetables including cooking greens and scallions; eggs, honey from urban hives in Philadelphia!
